Momotaro - 15.7oz - Black Selvedge Custom Black Battle Stripes - Tight Tapered
This is Momotaro's slimmest fit, but we think it suits the black. Black denim is meant to at minimum be slim, and if you size down on these they're going to be skinny. We started our initial run from Momotaro with 16oz denim due to the texture, but again and again, received requests for the 15.7oz. So, we decided to double down and get the black/black as well. And...we added the black GTB stripe. This is Momo's iconic "Vintage Label" denim. Its a fluffy Zimbabwe cotton with lots of fading potential, even in black.
For our initial run with this denim, we went with black battle stripes to make the denim a little more subtle. Due to requests, we had to bring back the black stripe in this 15.7oz fabric and we thought, why not include it on the black pair as well. We've seen fades on these down the line, and we can't bring ourselves to move on from the black. It'll be something we're always drawn to. The black will sluff off more naturally with the denim, and from what we now know, will stand out nicely against a heavily faded pair. This is crocking that makes perfect sense.
Momotaro always includes signature details, and this pair is no different.

Fit Notes: Ryan is wearing a size 31 in this fit. Momotaro's 0306 is toyt like a toyger. This is the skinniest fit you can get from Momo. Check your sizes, and most likely size up. These are for the guys with no butts and small legs. We found that this fit is our guy's favorite when looking for that classic slim selvedge, so we picked up the 16oz texture. It's an intense break-in, but well worth it. With proper sweat equity, this texture selvedge is going to be your favorite pair of denim. Shop owner Tommy wears a size 32 in these.
